Summary and Objective

The Field Service Technicians hold responsibility for the break and fix and preventative maintenance of DORC’s Phaco-Vitrectomy System. The role requires an individual with strong technical skills and expertise in repair and modifications of surgical platforms. The individual must also demonstrate strong clinical skills to be effective in the after sales support of the DORC Phaco-Vitrectomy System. After sales support will consist of training physicians and operating room staff on DORC’s Surgical Systems proper setup and use.

Technical and Training

  • Leads and performs as the territories technical expert for all of DORC’s customers technical needs
  • Troubleshoot and service items as needed, including performing necessary diagnostics aligning with our philosophy and promise of continued product support
  • React to an account’s service needs that come into our 24/7 Emergency Hotline in a timely fashion
  • Direct unit installations and application support
  • Effectively conduct skills transfer in-services for the physicians and surgical teams as the expert in the use of our Phaco-Virectomy System throughout surgical procedures
  • Maintain proficiencies in equipment function while interacting and training with physicians and OR surgical teams 
  • Build strong relationships with accounts in the field to develop and maintain trust and continued partnership
  • Perform annual preventative maintenance on machines
  • Perform Break & Fix needs throughout the territory for all accounts within 24 hours of unit failure
  • Travel required throughout assigned territory to call on accounts to manage their surgical unit’s technical needs and maintain the security of the account
  • Gathers, analyzes and delivers information including complaints and machine malfunctions from the field to allow the company to develop strategies and products appropriated to sales and quality
  • Acts as creative liaison for the Territory Manager & Equipment Manager in improving training efficacy
  • Assist in basic training courses, certification courses for field representatives, and conference calls 
  • Coordinate and report all technical issues with key clients between the Territory Manager, Equipment Manager, Key Accounts Manager, Regional Directors, and Sales Director for resolution
  • Participate in special project assignments 

 Sales

  • Work closely with delivering the highest level of customer service while onsite and communicating closely with the Equipment Manager, Territory Regional Director, and Commercial Sales Director

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employee will spend long periods of time standing.

Travel and On-Call

This position requires up to 80% travel. Territory covers: Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Frequently travel is outside the local area, overnight, and often requires multiple days. 

Specialist is required to be on call 24/7 based on Account’s needs. Required to attend inter-company trainings and meetings.

Required Education and Experience

At least five to ten years of medical technical field/sales experience 

Preferred Education and Experience

Ophthalmology focused sales and/or technical experience

Experience working in an operating room

Training Required

Training will be directed and provided by the US Clinical Manager
