The Senior Accountant will oversee the preparation of all accounting activities and will help to identify and drive process improvement and efficiencies within the organization. You will be involved with the financial close, assist in the preparation of quarterly reports and work closely with the finance team members, global finance, as well as all areas of the business. This role will report directly to the Finance Manager and will oversee the Junior Accountant.
About the position
You are responsible for:
- Approve vendor invoices, weekly check runs and upload positive pay file to bank after the check run.
- Support the AP/AR Specialist and Credit Collections Coordinator roles as needed.
- Manage and process bi-weekly payroll for three companies including investigating unusual changes.
- Process payouts for commissions, annual salary adjustments, etc.
- Manage inventory transactions & reconcile and inventory issues
- Process inventory-related adjustments on a monthly basis, including sample expense adjustments.
- Process intercompany-related adjustments on a monthly basis, including pricing adjustments.
- Prepare month-end reconciliations for a variety of key GL accounts.
- Analyzing financial statements and prepare balance sheets
- Provide insights to Exeter financials to support US Finance Manager and Corporate Inquiries.
- Maintain banking responsibilities for Exeter and review cash availability daily
- Ensure timely filings of Taxes (Payroll, Corporate, Sales Tax)
- Support Internal/External Audit process
- Assist Finance Team with audit analyses, the annual budget process, requests, etc.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills, know-how and experience:
The successful candidate will have a professional demeanor with a high regard to confidentiality. They will also have strong organizational skills, a high attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline with 5+ years of accounting experience. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, including cost accounting. Experience in payroll processing needed. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, accounting and other related software packages with working knowledge of software packages such as Sage, SAP, Concur, Salesforce and Paylocity would be helpful.
